Sheepskin rugs from Austria are always a sign for high quality. The temperatures in the Alps in central Europe vary quite a bit, and despite being most known for snowy tops, it can get warm in the summer. In order to protect themselves against the rough Alpine climate, Austrian sheep need a thick coat. Austrian sheepskins have long, curly hair that cannot be compared to any other sheepskin. Despite the wild looks of the curls, the fur is very soft and comfortable to touch. With its special look and natural beauty, an Austrian sheepskin can be a great element in every home.

Austrian Sheepskin

All our Austrian sheepskins are 100% natural. That means they have been tanned carefully and their natural colours have not been changed by colouring or other means. That's why no two Austrian sheepskin rugs look exactly the same. Instead they can vary in colours, shape, and nuances. You can be sure that every Austrian sheepskin rug you receive is absolutely unique. If you are looking for other sheepskin rug, you can find our complete selection here.

Austrian sheepskins come in three major colour categories, namely light, dark, and spotted. The light colour variant is mostly white, with a shade of yellowness to it and the occasional darker mark on the side. The reason why the sheepskin isn't snow white by has a yellowish shade to it is the way the sheep were raised. Seeing as all our sheepskins come from organic sheep that roam freely through nature, the Austrian sheepskin is heavily influenced by the weather. Frequent exposure to rain turns the wool more and more yellow over time.

The dark variant is mainly black in colour. Most dark Austrian sheepskins aren't exclusively black, but instead have very few lighter patches. The spotted variant combines the best of both the light and dark variant. Most spotted Austrian sheepskin rugs have a light base colour with patterns and spots in other colours. These can range from black to different shades of brown or even grey colours. Each Austrian sheepskin is unique. That means that no two sheepskins look exactly like each other. If you are looking for a specific colour scheme or pattern, please do not hesitate to contact us.
