Our reindeer hides are from the cold north of Finland. This region is also know as Lapland. As part of the traditional lifestyle, reindeer are herded and kept for the local meat production. Their skins are natural byproduct of this meat production and would usually be discarded. Instead, they are used as wonderful decorative objects. Due to the low number of reindeer (around 100,000) the supply of reindeer hides are rather limited. We are glad and proud to be able to present you high quality reindeer hides from Finland in our selection.
Reindeer hides are naturally brown in colour. Each hide is unique with a unique colour scheme and patterns. Some are darker, some are a bit lighter and some reindeer hides even have shades of grey to their naturally beautiful colour patterns. The combination of light and dark colours make each reindeer hide a wonderful piece for the home and every reindeer hide is sure to catch the eye of the beholder.
The hairs of reindeer hides are hollow on the inside. This means that they can break off easily. That's why a reindeer hide should not be sat or stood on, instead it should be used for decoration
only. Be sure to avoid direct heat to the reindeer hide, as that could cause the hairs to fall out.
