From the rough Icelandic nature we proudly present you our beautiful Icelandic sheepskin rugs. The quality and composition of the wool has evolved over many centuries of being exposed to the local climate, and this is what makes the Icelandic sheepskin rugs so special. Icelandic sheepskin has relatively straight hairs with slightly rough surface, that give it a wonderful feel and make it especially comfortable to sit or to lie on. Furthermore, all Icelandic sheepskins are 100% organic. They have been tanned only using natural ingredients and without the use of harmful substances and chemicals.

Icelandic sheepskin rugs come in many different colours and sizes. We have decided to sort these rugs into five main natural colours: white, black, brown, spotted, and grey. A special aspect of these colour categories is that not all sheepskins within one colour look the same. Being all natural, colours can vary, and one grey sheepskins hide may look very different from the next one. Grey sheepskin are especially rare in Iceland. For example, the white variant is about 100 times more common, which means that there is just one natural grey sheep to every 100 white ones. Within these few natural grey sheepskins, many have various patterns and colour combinations. There are light grey variants that are combined with white colours, dark grey sheepskin rugs that go more towards black, and many variations in between. If you are looking for a specific colour, please let us know. We are always happy to help you find your perfect sheepskin rug.

Icelandic sheepskins are, just like all other sheepskin products, natural byproducts of the meat production. The sheep are only raised for food production, and the sheepskin, that might otherwise be disposed of, is processed into a beautiful decorative piece. Another consequence of sheepskins being natural byproducts is that sheep are not bred for the colour of their wool. All colour variants are natural variations, which is one of the reasons why the natural grey variant appears so rarely.
